Saturday Night

Last Saturday night I had a pretty cool gig doing caricatures at a cocktail party. Instead of the usual materials I was asked to draw on cocktail napkins

And then I came back home to Poker Night at our friends apartment.

My cartoon in this weeks TheVillager. Some folks have asked if it's copyright infringement but it's okay to use copyrighted material in editorial cartoons. Funny because the Simpsons itself is often satire so I'm using satire for satire.

Aldon James the eccentric nutball President of The National Arts Club in Gramercy Park has gone on "hiaitus" amidst numerous wacky, and probably true, allegations.

One Pen pt. 3

This pen just keeps going. Lots of sketches and doodles and sketches. Also doodles.
It's time to start de-inking the pen.

One Pen pt. 2

The One Pen project continues! One pen and only one pen. Nothing dull about that. Nope. Lots of fun only using one implement. I'm not looking forward to this thing running out of ink. Perish the thought.

One Pen

It's alive! It's ALIVE! Yes my friends, the One Pen project has begun.

I'll be putting most of the sketches here

but updates will be noted here on the blog. When this idea struck me I thought it was pretty cool but I have to say, I mis-underestimated how boring only using one pen can be.
But drawing can never actually be boring so project One Pen goes on! Until the ink from this pen runs dry! or I lose it. or it gets stolen. The second option seems most likely.

Secret Projects

My (wife) manager says I have to stop starting projects that I never finish. Especially the kind that don't pay whether they're finished or not. This is sound advice but very difficult when there's so much to do.
My two new concepts which I will start and hopefully finish posting here are:

1) ONE PEN: I started doodling with the new pen that came with our Vegas hotel room. I want to see how many sketch book pages I can fill before that pen runs out of ink.

2) ACT(or)S of Congress - I want to do caricatures of all 541 members of the 112th Congress of the USA.

So, please don't tell her what I'm up to. I'm supposed to spend all my free time working on cartoons and I do. The afore mentioned projects are things I can work on while I'm watching my toddler, like right now while he's sleeping next to me.
